Hello,

My CDRW on 2nd IDE port as slave is not recognized. I get a message
that its detected as improper ATAPI interface. I have to press F1 to
continue booting every time I restart the computer. Both optical
drives are jumpered properly as either master or slave. I am running
the IDE interfaces in "Enhanced Mode" with Win XP Pro and as PATA +
SATA. I have tried every combination of BIOS choices and still the
damned thing refuses to boot without the error message. Anyone have a
suggestion? BTW, I've tried several known good CD drives and it
happens with any/all of them. Thanks for any help!

Had a similar problem which was caused by trying to force UDMA2 onto a CDR
that didn't support it (LG 52x). See if all the settings for the drive are
[AUTO] and if they are and it still doesn't work try selecting the PIO mode;
if that works then try the multi-word DMA setting.
You can also first try resetting the BIOS to defaults in case something is
wrong with selected settings. In my BIOSs that I tried 1014, 1015 defaults
loads Enhanced Mode with S-ATA only. When I got the board it was P-ATA
+S-ATA like yours, after resetting the hard-drive transferred much more
quickly in my Drive Image program in DOS mode FWIW. I don't have any S-ATA
drives on my P4P800.
