P4C800 E DEXLUXE, CDrom IS unreadable :-(

Where Can I download an image of this CD or will ASUS send me a new one ?

I never heard of someone actually getting an answer from that company, maybe
the best hardware but support seem to suck.

Why is it unreadable? Is it physically damaged? Did you try it in a
different computer? If it came that way Asus will probably send you a
new one but it may take a while.

In the meantime you can download everything you'll need from the Asus
web site.

Are you using a CD Rom player or a DVD player? I know the disc that I got
with my P4C800E board does not like my DVD player. I also have a CD-Rom
burner and I just use it in there.

Very interesting - for some reason the CD I got with my P4C800-E Dlx crashed
my machine. I tried it in another machine with the same result! How can a
bad CD totally crash a computer?. I just stuck it in the bin and downloaded
the stuff I needed from Asus.com.

Whoa, I thought my Sony DRU-510a was going bad.

First install of XP, and when I went to go install the chipset drivers, the
system crashed (while accessing the CD), corrupted and I had to reinstall XP.
I just went, "wow, that was a new one!" LOL.

Second time around, it installed, but everytime I went to go use the CD (in
XP and 98SE), access times were slow, a lot of noise, and clicks and 50% of the
time it timed out or failed to load. I eventually placed it in my server's 40x
CD-ROM drive, and installed across the net. Worked fine then!

i had it so i could not install win XP if the dvd burner was on a different
ide chain to the primary HDD
it just crashed or hung :s
