Usb had been flacky, everything else seemed fine, but wouldn't find usb
printer, dwnloaded the new intel utility, installed, everything works fine
now,
including usb2 external drive! Original driver must have been bad/issues?
XPsp1

Bob which new intel utility do you refer to? Having unrelated USB issues
and I would like to take a look if you could point me in the right direction
please.

TIA

Paul

I updated the intel also... i didn't see any new devices, but it
updates all intel bus drivers.
i think the cd was (off the top of my head) 5.0.0.12??? and the site
has 5.0.0.13?

5.01.1015 was the original I downloaded about a month ago!

5.0.2.1003 I downloaded and installed yesterday!

When I loaded Xp/sp1, everything was pretty well enabled in bios,
after the the os load, I installed the intel inf utility, then the other
drivers.
The raid or something must have been conflicting with the inf drivers.
Usb did not work(reliably), great now!
Damn "state of the art" crap released before it's ready!

There's something to be said for staying behind the curve a few months!

Beta testers wanted to pay top dollar for hardware that doesn't work yet.
No feed back wanted, just lots of money and patience.

Thanks Bob!

Sheesh, when is a driver not a driver? ........................

when it's a utility !!!!!!!!

Blimey I wouldn't have spotted this - thanks. Any idea how one can tell
what it does differently, if indeed anything? The "more info" box reveals
nowt.
