Hi,
Just built a new system around the p4c800-e deluxe and pentium4 3.0
processor. I installed 2 wd 160g sata hard drives in raid0 attached to the
intel ich5r controller. I had no problem setting up the raid in the bios
and it shows that it was set up successfully but when I try to install
windows xp pro it gets to a point an says there are no hard drives
installed. Can anyone steer me in the right direction. Should I try the
promise controller. Tony

you need to install the raid driver for windowsxp . usually its on a floppy
disk. The setup will ask at the beginning if there is a raid or something
along those lines.

I never checked my CD since the drivers are outdated anyway, but Intel has
the latest driver available for download on their site. Just go to support
and search on 875. It will pull up various Intel 875 boards and you can
view all the drivers they have available. Just get the Intel SATA driver.

You have to load the RAID driver for your motherboard from a floppy so
Windows can load. Windows does not include the RAID driver.

Thanks for all the help. I'm up and running. I was a little confused as
the mb manual had instructions to use the drivers for the promise
controllers, not the intel. Thanks again, Tony

I had the same problem.
fdisk/format fat32 and have your controller drivers
ready on floppy for the F6 prompt. convert to ntfs
during setup if you like.

OK... I'm confused...

My P4C800-E Deluxe has three PATA IDE connectors and two SATA IDE
connectors.

Two of the PATA seem like normal IDE ports, one of the PATA connectors
connects to the Promise controller and the two SATA connectors also connect
to the Promise controller... I think?

Where does the Intel RAID come into play on this mainboard?

I'm obviously missing something somewhere.

Thx!

Ok...checking the users guide it seems that the Intel RAID and Promise RAID
share the SATA ports. Definately not your standard type setup.

They don't share the ports. There are two SATA ports for the Promise RAID
and two SATA ports for the Intel raid.
