Hallo

i enabled the RTC alarm in the bios options on my P4C800-E Deluxe and set a
time for day, hour, minute and seconds. But nothing happens. The computer
doesn´t start? Must i enable another option? The light on the motherboard
lights.

best regards

In the following thread, "Task Scheduler" and ACPI are mentioned as
overriding the BIOSes use of the RTC timer. There is only one timer,
and either the Windows OS "owns" the RTC timer, or the BIOS does.
Generally, it would be better to let Windows own the timer, as then
you get the rest of the power management options as well, like
Sleep/Hibernate etc. When Windows thinks it owns the RTC timer,
Windows writes a value into the RTC timer register, just before
the computer is shut off. Task Scheduler is presumably the UI
for loading the time(s) you want the computer to start.

So, that leaves APM, ACPI, and Task Scheduler as items to research
to get this RTC timer function working. I don't know enough of the
details on this, to give you a recipe.

Paul
