Hi All,

does anyone know of a good FAQ with recommended BIOS settings for the
P4C800-E ?

In particular 32 bit disk access, the default is 'Disabled' - should I
set it to 'Enabled' (running XP Pro, Intel RAID 0)

TIA

Download the manual from the Asus website for the P4C800-E.

The manual really does say squat about the option and when you'd want to
enable it. I'd leave it disabled unless you know what the heck it is used
for and why.

Hi Ghostrider,
I have the manual, which bit explains the the effect of Enabling /
Disabling 32 bit disk access ?

TIA

Sorry about that. Take a look in Google. It kind of reminded me that
32-bit disk access really applied to Win3.X systems. This may be the
reason that the default setting is "Disabled".

Hi Ghostrider,

thanks for the help.

I've been offline the last few days 'cos my new P4C800-E has been acting
flakey (10+ boots to get into windows...)

So far I've found one bad memory module (which I've pulled).

At the moment it seems to be ok....

Hi Paul,
Thanks...

It may be a few days before I give it a try as my P4C800-E has since
stopped booting.....

So I'm back on my old machine.

Bill

- switch on - no beeps etc

- lights on cd + dvd flash

- the light on the floppy never flashes

- then it just sits there - no display - no nothing.....

cpu = 3ghz
no overclocking
raid 0 on intel SATA

- I'll start of by swappong video cards. But I'll have to buy one first,
as the ones in my old machines wont fit....
