I'm currently using the SubZero4G and I'm not at all happy with its
performance. They claim it will cool up
to a P4 4Ghz. What a joke!

When the CPU is idle it does a great job usually 2-3C cooler than case
ambient temp. However, with a load the temp rises very quickly and will
peak around 56C. This seems unexceptable to me? And yes I used thermal
compound Arctic Silver. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

I must add, even with the high temps the system has never lockedup or been
anything but rock solid for a month now. MMMmmm

My case has 5 80mm intake fans and 2 80mm output +2 PSU fans. In other
words ambient case temp is not an issue.

I can only guess your unit is defective as I built two systems a month
ago using this cooler system. Both run at an averag of 75F at an idle
day in and day out, running at 3450mz! After hours of 3D gaming it
gets up to aroun 100F but thats it, and back to 70's within minutes of
stopping. Under stock clocking I never saw over 88F on my machine.
Only bad thing is the heat it kicks out into the room...but Peltier
effect coolers are known for it..

Have you contacted Thermaltake?

Carefully remove the Heat exchanger atop the cpu and look at the pattern
the thermal grease makes, if there seems to be an uneven coat across the
cpu you will know it's not seated properly.

Possibly the grease is contaminated with some dirt preventing the cooler
from seating properly, try carefully cleaning all the old grease off (then
apply some new, also make sure the bottom of the heat exchanger is flat(not
dented, not big scratches etc).

If this isn't it, sounds like the unit is functioning incorrectly.
