P4C800-Delux/Wi98

Hallo,
I've two equal machines with P4C800-Deluxe and Pentium2.4 or 2.6.
On the PIV 2.4 is running XP, on 2.6 Windows 98SE.
Who can tell me, why the P2.4 is working faster (especially in
Dos-Window-Programms) than the 2.6 with Wi98?`

98 doesn't use HT for one thing. Turn HT off on the 98 box and see if it
helps.
