I'm using the Sandisk 8 in 1 card reader and am having problems keeping it on. After boot my reader is recognized and then it starts dropping in and out of the system until it finally drops out with the error message mass storage device not recognized. While it's recognized it works just fine. I'm running XP and have tried the things below to make my reader stable without success.

Reinstalled the Intel 2.0 USB drivers.
Removed the installation of the SDDR-88 in the system file with regedit and let it reinstall.
UNchecked the box in Norton Anti Virus to stop the scan of removable media.
Checked version of Easy CD Creator V5.3.5.10.

I'm hoping someone out there has conquored this problem and has suggestions.
THANKS...

Try a few of the suggestions here:

If none of that helps, buy a cheap USB PCI plugin card, and use
the ports on it to drive the Sandisk.

Thanks Paul - That link was quite helpful. It seems that the p4b533e is
defective in that the voltage is not regulated well. Most of the people with
the same problem seem to have installed a nic card and continued using the
usb ports. Thanks so much for turning me on to that link and to that site...
