The P4C800E-Deluxe is 40 - 50% faster based on its 50% faster bus speed,
with the same RAM as yours.. And THEN it has 50% faster DUAL channel RAM.
Yes, it's faster.

i just upgraded my p4b533-e with a p4 3.06 533 (one gig pc2100 memory), scsi
lvd 160 harddrives and plextor cdrws with recent additions of two firewire
devices: a plextor 708uf and a seagate 160 external drive (both are top
drawer). I am running windows xp pro sp/1.

Stable, fast. No problems (except for some usb issues that are well know
with this board; and I put in an adaptec firewire card because the on-board
firewire was flaky).

So my questions: How much slower is this configuration than a p4c800-e with
the 800 fsb chip?

Thanks.

That's theoretical gains.

Real gains are only about 5 to 10% for the dual bank RAM (gains differs
depending on the application).

I dunno about the 800FSB cpu (versus the 533FSB cpu)

That's the kind of reply I wanted: real world difference.

I am not a gamer but want a fast, reliable machine for professional writing,
internet surfing, e-mail, some photos and photoshop, scanning, etc.

5 to 10% difference isn't worth it to me because I figure that with
motherboard, processor and dual channel memory I would be in the realm of
$800. I'll wait until processors take another big leap (maybe the new 64
bit athlons -- I have another machine very similarly configured with an
athlon xp 3000+. to tell the truth, I can't see very much difference between
the p4 3.06 and the athlon 3000+).

Thanks.
