Got my P4B266 board second hand, but the "person" that sold it didn't send
the driver cd with the software for the voice on startup etc.

Is it an easy cd to get hold of, noticed the Asus download page doesn't
include all the software I would need!

Regards

Dave

What do you need that you can't download?

Click "All" and set display to 100 files per page, and you get
20 files. None of them are the Winbond Voice Editor!

There used to be one here (from my bookmarks) - a 17MB download
http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/Voice_10.zip

Or here:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/Voice_10.zip

There is one here for what looks like 875/865 boards:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/winbond/865875_veditor_M316.zip

Now, you can go back to the first download page and try "voice" or
"vedit" as the filename. There are eight files listed for "voice"
(which probably equals one or two real files). There are twelve
files listed for "vedit", and they all look like they point to the
same file. The only hard part, is being sure which one is appropriate
for your motherboard. My guess would be to use Voice_10.zip.

BTW: The results will sound like you are talking into a tin can,
because of the low bandwidth and compression. Try using the highest
bandwidth supported, to at least make some of the messages audible.
There is limited ROM space available, so not all your recordings might
fit. On older motherboards, the ROM is an 8 pin DIP next to the
Winbond chip.

Also, this won't help you at all, but the Winbond chip datasheet page
is here, if you are curious. Look for the devices with "speech" in
the description. Winbond unfortunately doesn't supply the Voice
Editor as a download from their webpage:

HTH,
Paul

Cheers for that, All I really need now for the time being is the MyLogo
application, want to change that standard startup logo to something a little
more exciting!

Cheers again.
