P4 temp Comfort Zone?

Hi, new P4C800-E board, 2.8g, 800FSB, Proc Temps running 47/116F degrees,
MB 102F, Case 100.4F

Do I need to focus on better cooling and what temps for the proc should I
target for.

My response was purely anecdotal; in that I'd read the upper 2.XC chips to
idle in the high 30's to low 40's C.

My (older) 2.0A Northwood idles at 28C and tops out at 42C when maxxed out
with Prime95 or after extended gaming.

I'm using a (noisier than all hell) AVC Sunflower cooler on the chip, and
(2) 80mm fans inside an Antec SX830 case. External ambient temperatures can
also have an effect on what you're trying to accomplish.

If it were mine, I'd shoot for an idle temp (in BIOS) between the mid 30's
to 40 or just a bit above. Case ventilation also means a lot. No amount of
fans can fix a case that can't breathe.

Your case could probably use some better ventilation - 100 degrees is a bit
high for the MB temperature, assuming a normal room temperature, and a lower
MB temperature will bring down the CPU as well. Those temperatures are not
too excessive though.
