I have bought many computers in my life. I have built several of them
myself.
the most recent one is a Pentium 4 660 3.6Ghz Socket 775. The fan is the
most noisy thing I may ever have experienced from a PC. Is this fan
particularly noise prone or is it just my copy?
At normal usage (Word, Outlook, Excel) CPU keeps at around 54C and fan about
3000 RPM. MB is at 40C and the power supply fan at 1200 RPM. Normal? When I
play FPS games temperatures shoot up (as expected) and the PC sounds like a
steam train. (CPU goes to 68C and CPU fan to 4000). I have NOT overclocked
the machine at all.
MB is an ASUS P5WD2
I want to change the CPU for something less noisy. I may want to overclock
by 5 or 10% but reliability is paramount as I do some serious work as well.
What CPU fan can you suggest that is available in the UK?
