P3V4X help please

I have just tried to update my asus P3V4X Mb using asusupdate ver. 6.03
under windows XP Sp2. Everything was fine except that the utility couldn't
verify the new bios. Erasing and reprogramming were OK. Now I am not able to
start the computer. The power go to the fan but I have absolutely no
display and no boot from a: . Any ideas on how to recover a working Bios

It was my experience back in those old days when i had this board that
flashing via windows was NOT the way to go. Using aflash and a dos boot disk
with the bios on it was the preferred way. We had many failures using the
windows path.

What bios did u have and what did you want to flash it to?

The mobo was originally containing bios ver. 1.03 and I have tried
flashing to first 1.05 and then to 1.06 beta 4 (without restartiong the
computer between these two versions).

The easy answer to this is www.badflash.com . In some countries,
Asus also offers a BIOS chip service. As long as the BIOS chip is
socketed, you can pull the old chip and plug in a new chip.

In theory, there is a boot block in the BIOS chip, and if it is
not erased, you have an option to recover the BIOS. But in most
cases, when people use the flashing tool, they select programming
the boot block as well. Once the boot block is erased, but the
programming effort fails, that eliminated recovery via a specially
prepared floppy. Since so few people have managed to recover
this way, it is better to just pick up another programmed chip,
from badflash.com or one of the many other services.
