Hello,

Only approximatly 115Mb are regognized on 256Mb SD-Ram.

I've read that it's because the memory sticks are buid with 32 mb blocks.

Does someone know if an update of the BIOS motherboard could be a solution
???

Thank you in advance.

Laurent.

You bought the wrong dimm. No bios change could fix it.

Older boards require double sided SDRAM. Is the 256 you have single
sided? If so, that's your problem. Return it and get a double sided
256 MB stick.

Nope, not that simple. If it was, this wouldn't still be the number one FAQ on
a.c.p.m.a.

Plenty of double-sided 256MB dimms will *not* work on a BX chipset...

Depends on how one understands "double-sided". Having chips on both
sides of a module is not enough; the module must be a double-banked one
(i.e. two banks of 8 16Mx8 chips each, as opposed to one with 16 32Mx4
chips).
