The FastTrack Network is by far the most popular, with just under 4 million
users online at a time. Kazaa accesses this network but should be avoided
at all costs as it comes bundled with adware and spyware. "KazaaLite" is
the unofficial version of Kazaa with all the crap removed, plus the bonus
addition of several helpful tools. Find "Kazaa Lite K++" here:

Kazaa problem
I would like to access p2p from college computer room, but apparently
firewall disables p2p connections (not p2p targeted, it is simply very
restrictive, even ftp is a problem). Is there a way around this, web-based
client maybe?

Usenet perhaps? Binary groups, that is...

That bandwidth adds up, though -- though it might be the only or best
choice. I'm at a university too and the only file-sharing program that I've
gotten to work is Ares (available at Download.com).

Many, many universities in the US are banning p2p download sites per
copyright violations per music industry and others...at least from Univerity
computers or lines.

Maybe, but I am far, far from US :)

I read your post wrong and thought you WERE from the US.

Everyone here is getting antsy about this p2p thing. The powers that be are
bringing lawsuits against some. So far the problem seems to be that its the
kids downloading and sharing the stuff BUT the ISP accounts are in their
parents (and grandparents) name and that's who the powers that be are going
after.

Just read where one parent settled by paying $2000!
