P2P setup is confusing

It took me quite a while to get that to work and that was with the benefit of 2
computers that each had a display. One was a laptop. This was way back when.
Now, I'm trying to do this setup again with 2 desktops, but only one display.
Isn't it awkward without the benefit of another display? How is this done? I'm
talking about the simple catalog 5 hookup, one has XP and the other Win98SE.

If I'm reading this correclty you want to setup P2P between two PCs; one
with a monitor and the other does not, so you are having a hard time
switching between the two.

Get a KVM (Keyboard/Video/Monitor) switch. You can get a two port one,
which would be perfect for this for fairly cheap.

Radio shack never heard of this product. ANy suggestions where to buy it? Plus,
the gist of my question is again about the disadvantage of not having 2
displays. Surely, there must be others who manage to do this without the
benefit of 2 displays or that switch you referred to. How do they do it?

Not too sure about this, but you could put xp on both boxes and try remote
desktop. That would enable you to get into the other box when you needed to
do something outside just accessing a resource.

There are ways to network PCs without displays. You can use the command
line, BUT I have yet to see anyone setup a Windows PC via command line
WITHOUT a display of any kind.

Clue me in about Command line. Is this in Dos? Well, I do have one display, but
in order to see both computers and see if they connect is that the Cat 5 cable
has to be acknowledge by both and if only one set is on, how is that possible?
BTW, one computer Win98se does not boot in directly to windows, because I have
a program that keeps asking for a driver and the only way I can get pass that
is to cancel it. I cannot get rid of this program because it is a controller
for my hd so the system can see a larger hd..which it does. So if I put that on
blindly, I won't know when it reaches that point for me to cancel it, if the
other computer is on the display.
