havinb problems with my good old p2b-s board

running fine, but wonna plug in an pci-firewire (digitus connect)

having the newst bios update

but as soon as i plug it in and restart, the good thing crashes.

running under w2kserver

without the firewirecard (which is running fine in other machines) the
system is running without any problems....

any ideas...?

The card in question works in other platforms or similar cards ?

yes, david, the card works in other systems fine,
no problem

just finished reinstalling the latest bios again,
going over now to do the hardware stuff to see waht´s happening now.

any ideas...?
or do you now of similar problems...?

just found out that there is an bios rev 1013 and 1014 beta somewhere
around...

i am running under 1012 (seems to be the latest you can get from the
asus page..)

any ideas if it makes sence to queck the newer ones (even if they are
not on the asus-page) and if yes, ideas where i can get it from...

Actually, the Asus web page does list the 1014 BIOS under the beta heading.
Since this board has long been out of production, it is unlikely you will find
much more to come out past 1014 (and it will probably stay listed as a beta). I
am running it on my P2B-LS without any problems.

I believe that the newer "beta" versions are supposed to add micro-code support
for newer CPU's and also support for IDE drives >32MB. I don't know if they had
anything else to make the board run any more stable so if you don't have a need
for the newer BIOS versions, then you are most likely okay to stay where you
are.
