According to ASUS's site in order to go above 600MHz you need a rev. 1.12
board. Is this true? I also noticed while shopping online there are
different core voltage PIII's, 1.65 and 2.00. Will the board accept either
or only the 1.65 volt?
Sorry if this has been addressed before but its been a while since I've
visited this group.

Roland's FAQ should answer your questions - rev 1.10 boards were shipped
with a couple of different voltage regulator chips, you'll need to check
which one your board has and compare it to the list in the FAQ.

Thanks for the quick response. Looks like a little more research is in
order. I'll have to open the box and check out which voltage regulator chip
I have.

I checked the board and it has one of the voltage regulator chips that allow
it to go down to 1.3 volts. So I guess I'm safe running any of the 100MHz
coppermines.

Even better you could use one of the newer Tualatin Celerons available up to
1.4GHz on a 100FSB...you would need a Slot-T adapter from
www.upgradeware.com . This probably works out cheaper than a second hand
100FSB Copermine of 850MHz or above, which are quite rare and commend a high
price.
If you had the older 1.8V regulator you could still use a Tualatin but would
have needed a Powerleap adapter.

Well I took your advice. I ordered a 1.4 MHz Tualatin and a upgradeware
Slot-T adapter today.
We'll see how things go when it all gets here.
I still have to flash the bios yet. I've got to wait till My wife gets all
of her files copied off. Just in case something goes horribly wrong.
Thanks for the advice.

I expect you'll be quite pleased with that upgrade, but there are a
couple of minor issues that would be good to know about in advance:

- You must upgrade the BIOS to 1014beta3 *before* installing the
Tualatin, it won't post otherwise.

- The BIOS will complain that "hardware monitor found an error" when you
boot the Tualatin. The appropriate response is to go into the power
management page of the BIOS, verify that processor core voltage is 1.5v
as per the default jumper settings on the Slot-T, then set the BIOS to
ignore the core voltage error in future.

- You will most likely receive a tB1 stepping Tualatin, but the latest
BIOS only has microcode updates for tA1 steppings - so it will complain
about being unable to load the update. You can safely ignore this
message, but if you prefer to eliminate it instructions for adding tB1
microcode updates to the BIOS are available on my P2B modification site:

Thanks for the advice. The bios flash was actually the first thing I was
going to do. After My wife saves all her stuff. It's actually her box. I'm
getting it ready to load winXP Pro on it.
