My company has us using a workbook that was created by
someone a while ago that no longer works for us. He
protected the workbook to prevent changes from being made
(which is understandable since no one seems to really have
a lot of know-how with computers and programs!).

However, NOW the workbook needs to be updated and modified
to reflect changes in the way we use the data. Some data
needs to be split, other data needs to be added.

Is there some way of getting around or eliminating the
password protection of this workbook? I'm not sure I have
the ability to duplicate the workbook in its entirety. Any
help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!
Maggie

there are a number of password recovery tools at
http://www.password-software.com/password-recovery.htm that will allow you to
open and access the workbook

Maggie,

There are various tools available online to retrieve the password for
a protected workbook in MS Excel or unprotect an Excel sheet.

For example:

http://www.intertek.org.uk/downloads/excel.html

Good luck! :)

Mark.
