I have Windows XP Home. In My Computer directory, there are two folders,
Owner' Document and My Documents. Each holds 440 files and takes 12 GB. I
need more free space on my HD. May I delete all 440 files in either folder?
Will removing files from one folder, say Owner's Documents, remove files
from My Documents folder? I need the original files, but not the doubles.

One is just a shortcut to C:\Documents and Settings\Owner*\My Documents.

These files aren't duplicated so don't delete anything you don't want to
lose!

To free up space on your hard drive, here are a few suggestions:

1. Purchase an external hard drive. Copy data files (music, pictures,
movies, etc.) to the external hard drive. Once they are safely copied,
delete them from the hard drive.

2. Do general cleanup/maintenance.

3. Uninstall programs you don't use/need.

4. If doing the above still doesn't get you enough room, purchase a bigger
hard drive. The new hard drive will come with software to clone the old
drive to the new one, or purchase Acronis True Image which also can image
your system and do incremental backups. Store the images and backup on your
new external hard drive.

Thank you, Malke, for your suggestions. Sure, I do cleaning regularly and
automatically (I have Windows Live OneCare), I have external HD and move
data files, etc. However, seeing twins 400 files and 12 GB sitting there was
more than I can handle ;-)
Appreciate your help.
