Access 97/Windows XP

Have joined appropriate Workgroup file for user to access
specific database. Workgroup Administrator confirms that
the appropriate workgroup has been joined.

However, when I attempt to launch the database get
the "You don't have the necessary permissions to use the
database location and name, etc, etc" message.

When I go back in to Workgroup Admin file, the user is a
member of the default system.mdw file and has overwritten
the previous one.

Please help.

Thank you

What do you mean by: "the user is a member of the default system.mdw file
and has overwritten the previous one"? Do you mean that the default
workgroup file has reverted to the previous one?

In any case, it is best >not< to use workgroup administrator to select the
workgroup file for a secured database. Leave it set at the default workgroup
file, so other databases are not affected. Start the secured database using
a shortcut of the following format (all on one line):

"full path to MSACCESS.EXE"
"full path to MDB or MDE file"
/wrkgrp "full path to MDW file"

HTH,
TC

Thank you for this.
