Can I block duplication of hostnames for the same IP, or overwrite a
previous name with the new one in a DNS running on Win 2k3 server.

Can you clarify the question and explain your problem?
Is this the forward or reverse lookup zone you are having the problem with?

Hi Kevin,

I am talking about the forward lookup. If I change my computer name
from "Host-A" to "Host-B" this creates a second entry in the dns
forward lookup with a different hostname for the same IP address. I
need the old name to be overwritten whenever computer name is changed.

Thanks in advance,
Badar

Are the clients registering themselves or is DHCP doing the registrations?

DHCP is running, and clients have dhcp enabled.

I've done some testing on this and it appears that this is the behavior. I
guess this could be called a bug.
