overwrite text

My works suite 2003 'Word' had a feature that allowed over-writing (replace
text and delete the unwanted text at the same time).

My Micrsoft office home and student 2007 (including word upgrade) does not
have this feature in 'Word'

How can I now access it, please?

You've ended up in the POWERPOINT group! But ...

In Word 2007 this feature is OFF by default, if you want it back Go to the
Office Button (The big one) and choose Word Options > Advanced
