Hello Mattias,
Even in the latest version of PowerPoint (2003), the maximum slide size is
56" by 56".
So, for example, if your printer is capable of larger paper sizes or you
want to split (tile) the print job into smaller pages, to be stitched
together after the fact, you won't be able to do this directly from
PowerPoint.
If support for larger paper sizes, or the ability to tile print your poster
or banner (slide) is important to you (or anyone else reading this
message), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp
As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case. Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
In the meantime, the workarounds include:
1) If you actually have a printer that is capable of printing to larger
than 56" by 56", specify a slide size (proportional to your poster or
banner dimensions) that is within the maximum allowable slide size in
PowerPoint and, when printing, use the "Scale to fit paper" option.
OR
2) If you don't have a large format printer, but you have Publisher, you
can copy and paste your creation from PowerPoint into a Publisher poster or
banner template. Publisher does support tiled printing as and allows you to
specify page sizes up to 20x20 feet.
