Overlaying movies and text

Guest

I am trying to play a movie in a presentation while also having a text box displayed over a portion of it. Yet, when I configure the order so the movie is sent to the back and the text is sent to the front, the movie always comes to the front when it is played. Is there any way to keep this from happening, or will PowerPoint always bring media to the front
Thanks for the help. Adam

All native PowerPoint shapes are always positioned behind the video. You
have some options here:
1. Convert your movie to GIF format if thats possible. GIF files play at the
normal Z-order.
2. Place your text in the Textbox VBA control instead of in the native
shape. Show the Controls Toolbox by checking "View" | "Toolbars" | "Control
Toolbox" menu item.
3. If you are playing video in full screen, then you might want to look at
my free TransparentShow add-in from http://officeone.mvps.org/addins.html -
it can make any specific color of the slide show as transparent. You can
play your video in any external media player and use TransparentShow to
start your slide show on top of this video.

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the capability to display anything in front of a
playing movie (movies will always plays in front regardless of their
z-order position in the slide when edited).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that some kind
feature for allowing other slide contents to be displayed in front of
playing movies, don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:
