My overclocking experience with the 9800 Pro is that I can push the core
clock to almost 500 and the memory to almost 390. At those settings 3DMK3
scores about 7150 and the system runs stably, BUT the video quality is
extremely poor. There's lots of streaking, tearing, smearing, strange
patterns, etc. Speeds much higher than these result in a crash.

The top overclock with clean output that I can get is about 6550 in 3DMK3.
That's with both memory and core overclocked a little over 10%. At stock
settings I'm getting 5933. All my runs are at the default settings of the
free version of 3DMK3.
