I recently bought 2 hard disks on the 31st of last month, i paid 8.49 for the next day deliver option, making my total £105.17. I ordered after the cut-off time so i was expecting two days later, which was yeasterday, unfortunately i didnt get my package so i would like to know will they try again today?

And also, would everyone recognise thier delivery companies lorries; with blue writing down the side ending in .com/.co.uk? As i saw the lorry pull up and then drive away agin.

Thankyou..
Harry

P.S, this is a very important package, as i have someone to come round and fit them for me with xp and RAID at the weekned, and Amtrak don't deliver on sat's, so it must come today.

ah, Amtrak
... we won't say anymore. :(

One of the companies I deal with has a side note on delivery, in that it states, they do NOT guarantee 'next day' even though you can pay for it.

Is that overclockers.co.uk?

I've had a few disagreements with them, I don't use them anymore if I can help it.

And yes, I believe they use Amtrak, another cowboy outfit I've had a few arguments with.

I use www.overclock.co.uk mostly now, their stuff usually arrives next day.

I also recently used CCL for the first time in a few years, purchased a Samsung CDRW/DVD ROM (Black) from them. Not only were they the cheapest (£33.00) but their shipping was reasonable, I ordered it at 11am one day and it showed up here at 9am the next day. Only drawback was I didn't receive any e-mails as confirmation of order.

And OCUK didnt even give me a confirmation number for Amtraks website so i can complain, they gave me a confirmation number for thier website although this is absolutely useless ass theres knowhere to put it in thier website, do you know where thier tracking page is?

ooo, when i get mad i really do get mad, i sent a few letters into OCUK and Amtrak to find out how i can get in touch and find that package! And now i got OCUK sucking up to me and Amtrak telling me to ring them. They're not answering. probably chucked my drives into a bush down one of the lanes. Im getting my money back

Well for starters i didnt know overclockers.co.uk used Amtrak =/ . I've heard/read nothing but bad about them! I think they were partly to blame with my Micro Direct calamity. Though i have never had a prblem with OCUK, ive had 2 hard drives, 2 mouse mats, a graphics card and a pack of 100 discs from them with no problems.

I would bother with paying for next day delivery, it just ads more confusion to the matter when things go wrong.

Used OCUK many many times and stuff has ALWAYS come next day. usually mid morning - so i use them whenever i can.

It's really weird - i live down an unmade lane by a golf course and every company knows how to get to us BUT at my friends house in a biggish town he gets "pinpoint problems" and everything like that.

but i need it by tommorow argh, im getting annoyed now as when i ring them they dont answer!! GRRRR :@

I know im posting into an old thread but the site to check your orders with OCUK is,

http://customer.overclockers.co.uk

Enter your order number into that and click the delivery link, should redirect you to Amtrak's website to show the status of your delivery.

Regards,

Chris

Still - if it's coming next day, it's coming next day. If it's not - it's not!

Not much you can do about it.

And chris, it didn't nor the nest day, or the day after that,

and the driver the week after still had the cheek to tell us he didnt like our guard dogs WHEN HE JUMPED OVER THE FENCE BECAUSE HE COULDNT FIND THE FRONT DOOR!!!

correct me if i'm wrong, but dont guard dogs normally rip people to shreds if the owners arent there and people are jumping over the fence? ours probably knew because he had my hard disks under his arm,

he should think himself lucky because our dogs are clever!!!

so i see you definetly train your dogs!!!

I have to say honestly that different people have different experiences with regards to online computer suppliers. I used to swear by the gospel with www.aria.co.uk, but after a hard drive from them failed big style after a month i soon lost faith with them and the way i was treated by their customer liason department.

Personally from experience i've had no problems with OCuK and with them i find their royal mail delivery service absolutely amazing, www.overclock.co.uk also have good delivery times, usually 8am at my front door without fail but their courier delivery does come at a slightly expensive premium.

I could not agree with you more about Aria...

BUT

I have come to know the way their company works so well now due to several hours on the phone to them and letters of complaint that i could probably have a faulty item sent back to them, tested, replaced and delivered to my house in between 4 days and a week. Seriously.

You want to get the RMA number, send it to them, call the Shuttle support line and talk to either Phil or Mark and have them test it there and then, telling them its priority and then they test it as faulty, call customer services and talk to Stuart P and make sure he sends it to admin and have him guarantee it will be dispatched the same day.

You just have to know the right people and the right numbers.

Aria have the best Tech department i know of, but the worst customer service department.

And guess which lets them down the most.

I have had nothing but good experiences with OCUK- but then i have never sent anything back.

You're spot on there chris, aria's techincal department are good, well saying that my hard-drive died totally, can't do much with a corrupt boot sector. I did get an apology out of the woman on the end of the phone when i told her that 7 gigs worth of mp3's were lost forever, ok so i had 6 gig backed up but its the moral of ths story ain't it :P

A friend of mine is currently in the middle of a huge arguement with aria, he purchased parts including an xp2500+ chip which u can't get no longer, on their hire purchase system. They hadn't delivered it after 6 weeks, and when aria failed to cancel the direct debits with the finance company he was penalised for failing to pay. He's currently contacting watchdog, trading standards and the ferret, so i hope for their sakes that they sort it out soon.

I haven't had a bad experience with OCUK either to date, fingers crossed.

i limit myself too royal mail special del.

but, this also limits what i can buy. and PC Components centre does not have much. and i dont have any faith too trust ebuyer.

otherwise, i avoid amtrak.

Now i'm set to test www.overclock.co.uk's returns center. I purchased a mitsumi 7in1 card reader and floppy drive and the floppy drive is dead in the water, i plugged my old one in on the same cable and it worked fine. I've emailed their complaints department so it'll be interesting to see if they can better aria :P

aaah goodgood...keep us posted on what happens!

sorry though that the drive didnt work :( but at least you are sharing with us very importent info which will sway our decisions on future purchases online :D

Fairs fair, they emailed me back promptly with suggested solutions and things to try incase i'd goofed it up. Their latest email goes as follows:

"Can you please confirm that the light is not staying on , as this means the cable on the floppy is on upside-down and would explain the behaviour."

Bless at least they're trying. I'm going to try it in a friends pc tomorrow just to make sure it is duff, because i don't know if anyone else has noticed this but some companies charge quite a huge fee if a faulty return is tested and proven to be in full working order.

So far i'm impressed all emails have been replied within an hour or two, which when compared to my previous experiences with other companies is very good.
