Over-writing only updated pages?

When updating only one page only, I am always unsure if I can simply
over-write that page, or maybe have to over-write the whole site to ensure I
do not drop some invisible embedded critical little devil file somewhere.

Does it take as long to over-write a site with few changes as it would take
to publish that same site to the Internet from scratch?
I use WS ftp. Is this one OK?
Lochi.

Depends on the page
- a normal page can just be uploaded by itself
(plus any associated files (images) in it you may have changed / added)
- any FP design time component (like shared borders or include pages) page,
requires all affected pages to be uploaded

If you're using the server extensions you need to publish via Frontpage Http
mode. I assume therefore by using WS_FTP you're not using the FPSE.
