OK guys and girls.I have not had the confidence to over clock so I ask a question to all you knowledgeable people!;) One of my spare systems is listed below. Now can I take it up to say? 2000 MHz with out any problems developing:o FSB is 333MHz.I know it says Maximum Clock 2250 MHz but I just want to make sure.
Everest report.
Processor Properties: Manufacturer AuthenticAMD Version AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2000+ External Clock 133 MHz Maximum Clock 2250 MHz Current Clock 1666 MHz Type Central Processor Voltage 1.5 V Status Enabled Socket Designation SOCKET A

Thanks!:D

... is the CPU "unlocked" ?

... you know it is easier just to go and get a 2500

;)

Here you are Mucks;)
Motherboard Asus A7V8X-X (6 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN)
Motherboard ChipsetVIA VT8377 Apollo KT400 FSB 333 MHz
System Memory 1024 MB (DDR SDRAM)

Enabled.
I have another PC with 2.6 AMD Athlon Running at 3000MHz
Whoooooosssssssssssshhhhhhhh:D

Then just do the same as you done with that one ;)

For a very simple overclock, you can use Clockgen, by the same folks who gave us CPU-Z, to increase FSB within Windows.

Using this program, increase FSB until your system freezes, crashes or reboots, remember your fsb setting, then set that number minus a few in the BIOS.

From there, you can mess around with memory settings and use Clockgen again and by trial and error find your best setting.

If your XP2000 is unlocked, you can also experiment with multiplier/fsb settings.

I'd say if you got up to 1.9Ghz with a 1.6Ghz XP CPU, you're doing well. But it all depends on which CPU you got, some were better than others at overclocking.

And keep an eye on your temps.

Clockgen can be downloaded from Here

Note that not all motherboards are covered.

From my experience, the XP2000 doesn't overclock that well (if it's a locked one)

We have one in the media centre here (it was in my sisters machine) and we tried OCing it, couldnt get higher than 1.7 stable.

Stuck a Duron 1.4 Unlocked in... and hey presto, 2.02GHz Stable!

OK guys and gals:thumb:

Here are the results; for a first time clocker what do you think?

It is running fine no hanging, freezing, just a lot faster>>>>> been running two hours ;) or should it be

Will update later in the week.

Thanks a lot for your comments and help in this matter.:thumb:

Before clocking [original]

CPU Speed:

CPU Clock 1658.32 MHz

CPU Multiplier 12.5x

CPU FSB 132.67 MHz

Memory Bus 132.67 MHz

Temperatures:

Motherboard 34 °C (93 °F)

CPU 40 °C (104 °F)

After clocking

CPU Speed:

CPU Clock 2070.79 MHz

CPU Multiplier 12.5x

CPU FSB 165.66 MHz

Memory Bus 231.93 MHz

Temperatures:

Motherboard 34 °C (93 °F)

CPU 43 °C (109 °F)

Just out of interest, this is how cpu-z will show your CPU.

Note voltage increase from 1.63 to 1.7 in overclocked setting.

CPU temps (running fall load, FAD program):
