this first started when i tried to output a pinnacle
movie, but found it also occurred when i tried to output
a movie to my dv camera from windows movie maker. The
output stutters and shows only partial frames on the dv
camera. this makes outputting to my dv camera useless.

pinnacle couldn't help me, i've switched firewires and
the camera (a canon 060) works fine when i output from
my apple i movie.

any help would be appreciated.

What other programs are you running when you output? Stop antivirus
software (TEMPORARILY!) if running in real time (most antivirus software has
a 'snooze' button).... stop Seti at Home.... stop Outlook/Outlook
Express.... stop surfing... "STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!".... go make a
coffee, watch tv, do the laundry, vacuuming, etc etc.... do NOT use the
computer while outputting... it's putting a strain on the resources and
using any other program is causing the dropped frames which gives the result
you see.
