Output as a MPEG2 format

I have Sony DVCamcorder. I have also Firewire card. I do
film making with this card. This is fantastic. But when I
go to make a video CD then the output file become
compressed. It looses it's resolution. That's why I would
like to make an output as MPEG2 format. How can I do
this ...

You are going to lose resolution if you go to VCD or SVCD. If you
have a "busy" shot it may be VERY obvious.

NTSC DVD resolution is 720x480 while VCD is 352x240; you have less
than 1/4 of the pixels to work with. An SVCD disk with MPeg2 video
files will give you 480x480, but you have to make sure your player can
play that format.
