Just FYI for all the performance related issues....

I've had a client experiencing severe performance issues with this
combination of software. The SQL engine would eventually consume upwards of
600 MB of memory and 20% of the cpu constantly. I narrowed the problem down
to the Desktop Search installation that provides the "instant search"
functionality in Outlook 2007. As the software indexed, more and more memory
would be consumed by the sqlengine.exe and this memory would not be released
when Outlook was closed.

I removed this component and everything is running a lot better. YMMV

I had an Xp machine where the Desktop Search would never behave so I
ended up removing it. It is always there (built-in) on Vista.

Note that sql using up available memory is a feature. If the memory is
unused, and it might make sql run faster, sql will use the memory. It
should also give up that memory if other applications ask Windows for
memory.

You can recover that memory by restarting the sqlserver.exe service.
