My wife and I have different e-mail names. Sometimes Outlook seems to get
stuck and not allow the selection of which profile we want to enter. When
that happens, it automatically goes to the profile of the last one who used
it. The only way we have found to clear this is to 'restart' the computer.
 
Do you mean sometimes you don't get the prompt for choosing the account?
That sounds like Outlook is still running. You can check that by the
TaskManager, see if there's "outlook.exe" in the list of running processes.
