My PC was murdered by the SASSER Worm and I have cleaned and repaired it. I
am using Outlook XP and have imported all of my old emails: 400+ sent items
and 800+ deleted as well as my 13 contacts. Before I could start to type any
email address I had in any of my my mailboxes and it would finish it for me.
Now it will only do it for addresses in my contacts list. Is it possable to
recover it's memory of old addresses somehow?
In Tools->Options->Preferences->E-mail Options->Advanced E-mail Options =
"Automatic name checking" is checked, so is "Suggest names while completing
To, Cc, and Bcc fields"

Thanks for any ideas in advance
Steve

Autocompletion ("Suggest Names") has never used Contact data. It uses a
cache of names created from messages you have sent. Only Autoresolution
(Automatic Name checking) uses your Contacts data. Clarify with which
feature you are having difficulty.

OK, based on other posts I have seen and your question below -
Autoresolution takes the names from the Contacts list and is working.
Autocompletion takes the names from the Messages sent cache and is the
problem.
I now know that it is an [ID?].nk2 hidden file but I haven't looked for it
yet to do anything with it. I'm guessing it can not just be copied over
because of ownership issues. Same person but different ID.

Thanks
Steve

Actually, if you have the NK2 file you were using before, you can use it to
replace the NK2 file your current profile is using. Rename your current NK2
file. Then move your old NK2 file to the same location as the current one
and give it the same name your current one had. Your name cache will be
back.
