I created a rule moving mail FROM to FOLDER.
Realising this wasn't what I wanted I modified the rule to be SUBJECT based.

Both mail FROM or SUBJECT is being moved to FOLDER.

SO, I deleted the rule and recreated as SUBJECT from scratch.

Mail FROM is still being moved to FOLDER.

all done from the same PC (W2K) logged on as the same user.

any ideas appreciated.

TIA

Was this still after you restarted Outlook? Server based rules are sometimes
updated when you close Outlook.

not only restarted Outlook but restarted the PC. Also did 'file' 'exit' and
not only restarted Outlook but restarted the PC meantime.

I think I need a way to reset 'Server based' rules. Coz nothin' I do on the
client is helping.

In rules you can also press options import/export rules and I believe you
can also set which rules to use server or client based (set it to client
side to ditch the server based rules). I can't really help you at the moment
as I'm not connected to an Exchange right now and my test Exchange 2003 is
on a different subnet :-S. Are you connected to Exchange 2000 with Outlook
XP? I can help you perfectly then as I have that at my work and my Tuesday
will be the last day of my holiday so I can test it on Wednesday if nobody
comes up with an answer sooner.

yep, Exchange 2000
