I know with Outlook Express one can choose to open all email as plain
text. Is there any way to do this with Outlook XP for security?

Thanks much

Outlook 2002 does not have this option, 2003 does however.

There is an add-in, written by Outlook MVP Ken Slovak, called Attachment
Options. It will allow you to set a "read all as plain text option." It also
will allow you to set the level of security on all attachments you receive
to automatically let through, say .mdb files (Access Databases) but deny all
..scr (Screensavers that automatically install and are a great vector for
current viruses.).

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, neo asked:

Isn't this an option already available in O'03? Tools>options>email options>read all standard mail in plain text

Is the operative word 'standard'? What makes Ken Slovak's program different

Thanks, Scott

Hi Scott

Yes, this is available in O'03. I purchased the full version of Office
XP shortly before the introduction of '03. As I understand it, it is
unwise to mix different versions of parts of Office.

Ken Slovak's program offers this function as well as others to
previous versions of Office. I still maintain that MS should have
offered this a free security patch.
