If you open the desktop icon (installer shortcut) of Outlook mulitple times
, it will launch other instances of Outlook. If you do the same with a
regular windows shortcut, it will not. How can I prevent the default
Outllook desktop icon from opening other instances?

Alas Jay,

You have fallen into the wrong support group. We are PowerPoint people
here, and you should seek your answer in microsoft.public.outlook where they
know of such matters. (Although our people may turn up an answer for you,
anyway.)

If you want to tell a few hundred of your closest friends about the answer
you got with a bang-up wiz-bang presentation, check back with us.

Hi Jay,

The outlook icon on the desktop is special. You can
replace it by right clicking on it and clicking on Create
Shortcut. This will create a new Outlook Desktop Icon.
Rather than delete the original icon, I'd probably move it
to another folder and save it just in case I needed it for
the outlook properties. The replacement icon will do what
you want.

See, us PowerPoint folks can multitask...
