I uninstalled outlook 2k and installed XP. Now the contacts are showing
up as emails and I can't access the information. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Clarify what you mean.
Include the method you used to migrate your Outlook data.
Verify that you backed up your data.

Didn't export the contacts list or back them up. I just copied the
contacts folder from the mailbox off of the exchange server and pasted
it into the newly created mailbox. Now the contact files appear to be
corrupted as they show up as email from the user to the contact without
any subject or body. All of the phone number info is gone. Worked with
MS today for about 3 hours and they couldn't figure it out.

Correct me if I am wrong, Russ. The problem was: He copied contact
data into a folder that was a mail folder instead of a contact folder.
That data is then lost because a mail "folder" does not have the fields
to accommodate the contact data. And even though all this takes place
within Outlook and provides a means of mass destruction of data,
Outlook doesn't even ask the user if this is what they want to do.

The post is not clear or understandable, but it was my impression he tried
to copy and paste Contacts data from one Outlook profile to another. I'm
sure he learned when talking to Microsoft that that is not possible. You can
only copy and paste within the same profile. To go from one Outlook profile
to another you must create an Outlook Data File.

What is even more unclear is why anyone would attempt such a thing when
migrating from one Outlook version to another while running against
Exchange. The data would not need to be moved at all since it remains safe
in the Exchange mailbox.
So, it's anyone's guess what was really done here or why. Posts with no
information or inaccurate information just end up wasting everyone's time.
