Outlook XP:cannot activate "play a sound" when new e-mail arrives.

I have checked the boxes in advanced e-mail options to "play a sound" and
"show an envelope icon in the system tray" when new mail arrives. Neither one
happens. Any suggestions? Have 3 e-mail accounts with MSN

What types of accounts? If HTTP, I don't think those options will work.
