Outlook XP & Address Book

OK, I've done an Office XP install onto a Win XP machine. When I launch
Outlook, I cannot add names to the address book. I can add names to the
Contacts, but not the address book. When I open the Address Book and try to
add a name, I see a message that "You cannot add names to this address
book." I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the LDAP but I can't
resolve the issue.

There are over 6000 names in my Contacts and none of them show in my Address
book. I cannot add names to my Address Book. When I try to add names to my
Address Book, there is a message in the window that says "You cannot add
names to this address book."

Also, even if I add someone to my Contacts, the new addition does not show
in the Address Book.

Anyone have any ideas?

PS: Re-install didn't fix it.

I've posted a reply to this same message twice.
Do you monitor the group?

Monitor and read. You posted one reply, which I found helpful, but I posted
a further reply for which I was hoping for more clarification. I saw no
reply to my clarification request so I posted again.

And what is the clarification you need? You did not mention one.
I'll repost the solution. You repost the clarification you need.

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book. If it is not listed, back up one step
and add it. If it is, then click on Change. to make sure the Contacts
folder(s) you want to display are listed. You may need to enable the
Contacts Folder as an e-mail address book by R clicking the Folder >
Properties and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box.
Make sure you restart Outlook after making these changes.

The clarification I sought was exactly what you posted. After following
your instructions to the letter, I have resolved the original problem.

Thank you very much for your patience and for the info.
