My son-in-law has been using Outlook Express, but would like to switch
to Outlook. He has imported his OE .wab file into the Outlook Contacts
list, but in Outlook when he enters the first few letters of a person to
whom he is sending an e-mail, the line is not automatically filled in as it
is in OE. On my system, Outlook does this all the time; in fact, I just
enter the first letter or two of a person's name and automatically there is
a list of probable addressees to select from.
Is there a setting in Outlook that he can use to cause Outlook to enter
a full e-mail address after typing in just a few letters of the name? I've
looked, but I can't find one.

If you are using Outlook 2002, Select Tools/Options then
click on Email Options button in the Preferences tab, then
click on the Advanced Email Button. When the Advanced
Email Options pops up, be sure that "Suggest names while
completing To, CC, and Bcc fields" is checked. That should
turn on the autocomplete feature.

Not exactly intuitive, eh?

In addition to that, former Outlook Express users should be warned that
Outlook's AutoComplete feature only works against addresses that have been
typed in previously; it doesn't work against the Contacts list at all.
