Outlook will receive e-mails but not send

I work from home and my e-mail account is linked to the company I work for
over seas. They have done something that will allow me to send and receive
e-mails to my client based version of Outlook 2007. Now, when I am on the
road... I travel frequently for work, Outlook will not send my e-mails for
me. I can receive them just fine, but I have to log into OW in order to
send. Its quite frustrating. At one point, I was able to send the e-mails
just fine. I have contacted our IT folks and they seem to have no idea what
the issue could be. My outlook account is setup using an IMAP account as
suggested by my employer. I have the box checked off to have "My outgoing
server (SMTP) requires authentication" checked off, and it uses the same
settings as the incoming server. Someone told me it could be my Virus
Protection. I had McAfee. I have since uninstalled it and have the same
issues. Any guidance will be appreciated.
 
What does the error message show when trying to send. Can you post the error as per
verbatim. Also which port is being used for sending at present

You say you can receive incoming mails, could you tell us which port
have you used? Generally it should be 143. Also, tell us whether you
have checked:

1) This server requires secure connection (SSL)

I suggest put in port 587 for Outgoing mail and also check the box that
asks you about SSL connection.

Let us know if it worked.
 
That is fine that it say's 0x800CC0F error. But what is the complete error message
(AGAIN as per verbatim.)

If you tried the suggested fixes by 20100208 and it still has the issue post back
with the complete error
 
This is the message I get:

"Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server admin or internet
service provider."

I switched to port 587 with SSL selected. Before it was 143 on Auto...
which works from home but no where else.

The internet at home works fine for me so I don't think it is my internet
service provider. Actually, I think out IT guys made an exception for my
ISP so that I can use Outlook. Any other suggestions... PLEASE?

Port 587 has nothing to do with IMAP. Port 587 is strictly an SMTP port, not
an IMAP port.

Port 143 is for IMAP incoming connections. It is not for SMTP outgoing
connections. This port will never work for the outgoing server.

Call you ISP and get all the info that is needed to set up your account correctly. I
had to tell you this because you are dodging all the info that is asked of you. We
do not have a crystal ball to see what is or how is your email profile setup

Its my work account. not yahoo or hotmail etc... is this what your
wondering?

If this is a work account, then it's appropriate for your company's IT people
to solve your problem.

I appreciate your assistance in this matter. If you see the threaded posts,
I believe I have included all of the information you have requested. My ISP
(at least I think) most likely has nothing to do with the issue. As
mentioned earlier, I am able to send and receive from my office. When I am
on-site with my clients is when I have an issue. When on site, I can receive
e-mails just fine. When attempting to send they sit in my outbox. At my
office, I use port 143 for incoming set to "Auto" for connection. Outgoing
is set on port 25 on Auto. These work fine from my office. Anywhere else...
this does not work. I have tried to switch to 587 SSL and this does not
work. I'm not sure if I understand your question "Who is your mail
provider?" As stated, this is a work e-mail account I have set up on my
computer which is NOT connected to their servers (located overseas) with an
IMAP Account type. As stated, my IT person has no idea why this is
happening... apparently he is not very qualified for his position.
Therefore, I have come directly to this forum for answers. I'm not an IT
person so you will have to forgive me if I can't provide the appropriate
answers you are looking for.
 
Also,

After tinkering with the settings and going back to the original settings
(which works from home office but no where else) the error message I am now
getting is
" Task (e-mail address removed) - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
 
I'm not sure if I understand your question "Who is your mail provider?"

Who owns the outgoing server? AT&T? Road Runner? Your work? The owner of
the server is your mail service provider. What's the server's name, if it's a
public server? If it's a server provided by your work, it's no wonder you
can't connect to it. It's unlikely a private business is going to make an
SMTP server available on the Internet.

connection", but nothing seems to work.

Either change the outgoing server to one you can access or authenticate
properly to the outgoing server you want to use.
