Hi everyone

I would be very greatful for any help in getting my back up of emails
restored to outook.

Outlook will not import my emails that I saved before I did a reformat. I
would be very greatful for any advise on how to get my emails back as they
are very important to me.

I have outlook 6 and have tried using the option of going into outlook 6 and
clicking "file" then "Import" then "messages"
Then it says "select an email program to import from". The only option
availble is "outlook 6", so I select outlook 6.
Then it says "specify a location". According to the instructions from msn
webpage I click the button for import from "OE6 Store directory"
Then I get the "location of messages" box. I use the browse function to get
the folder where I stored my backed up messages.
But then when I click on "next" I get the message "No messages can be found
in this folder or another application is running that has the required files
open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may
have files open".

I have checked and there are no applications that are running the files and
all the files in the folder have the extension dbx, which is what I
understand all stored emails have as their extension.

I have also found the store directory where all my emails that outlook uses
are stored.
I have copied my backed up emails and copied them to the store directory but
they do not show up in outlook when I run it.

Before I reformated my computer I backed up the emails and tried the import
function on outlook on the backed up emails and it worked fine. So I just
do not understand why it will not open my backed up emails.

If anyone has any ideas I would be very greatful.

Thanks

Phil

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group

try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source

for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup

references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to

post but it works for some people)
