Using outlook 2003 on Win XP SP2. Has been working fine but for the last
couple of days it has been refusing to open.

Outlook has encountered an error and needs to close. I have tried repairing
it, reinstalling it - it works at that moment in time and when I get to my
machine an hour or so later it says the same thing. Virus checker, spyware
detector have found nothing.

Any ideas!!

Have you tried running scanpst.exe on your .pst file?

No. Where do I find it - it is not on my system. This afternoon, I
uninstalled it and reinstalled it. What I have found is that it works OK
when I have re-installed it but when the system is rebooted I get the
problem again. It opens and then I get the error screen:

"Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered an error and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience"

The size of pst file was around 434 Mb which I have now reduced to 212 Mb.
Still the same after reboot and even in the safe mode. Very frustrating.

Just had a look at event viewer and it reports the following at different
addresses:

"Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.5510.0, stamp 3f1380f0,
faulting module mso.dll, version 11.0.8122.0, stamp 4592f985, debug? 0,

Now this problem has started affecting FrontPage 2003 as well. Every so
often I get the message;

"FrontPage/Outlook failed to start..... would you like to start it in Safe
mode and correct the error."

I open them in Safe mode, CLose it /Reopen and it works fine most of the
time but why is it happening???
