I am trying to delete incoming emails and outlook is giving me the response
that "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."

I have restarted outlook... I have removed software and and reinstalled
software... and i am still recieving this message. I can pull up fine, but
when I tried to send an email it is just sitting in the outbox. I have
several email messages that I don't want to loose filed in my inbox. Helpppp!

I am using XP Pro. Outlook 2003.

If this is NOT an Exchange account, one approach would be to create a new
PST, make it your delivery location, then copy to it it everything you wish
to keep from the old PST. After doing so, close the old PST (right-click in
the Folder List and choose Close). Later, after you close Outlook, you can
delete the old PST if you wish.

This is not an exchange account so this may help. But I am not sure how to
create a new PST in my inbox folder? Please advise

Mr. Tillman,

Thank you for your assistance! I did as you suggested and it worked!

Thank you again

Hi

I saw your response. I use outlook xp 2002 and i don't want to lose the emails i have or, delete them. I went to the microsoft website and it said that i should simply dowliad the new service pack. I did that, but it made no difference. I do onsider myslef to be somewhat it literate and i just want to know how to adapt my pst folder so that it will go past 2gbs and still download mail. according to the microsoft website the new service pack does (supposedly) adapt the pst file so that you can carry on

I would appreciate help, its been 4 days and i'm getting my emails direct from the server!!

Thanks

Jeremy Ross.

Outlook 2002 and earlier have an absolute limit of 2 gigs that cannot be
changed. You will need to truncate that .pst file to a more manageable size
to use it. No way around it.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add
or change a pst.file ,

File>new>Outlook Data File

What exactly have you tried. The usual way is File>Open>Outlook Data File.

I have essentially the same problem, but this also ends up sending the same
emails at every scheduled Send/Receive.
I created a new data file, brought the old mail over, closed the old data
file.
Now the problem has started all over again.
When I try to delete the OUTBOX mail, I get the message "The messaging
interface has returned an unknown error, It this persists, restart Outlook".
Been There, Done That. Several times.
I am working with my user via Remote Help, and need to get him back to work.

Ideas?
