Computer: Toshiba Satellite laptop
Operating System: MS XP Pro.

Problem: During the initial configuration of Outlook, the software
attempts to sign-on to the Microsoft Exchange Network. The software will not
allow me to configure the program for e-mail. Outlook will not load the
program to configure Outlook.

I installed Office Standard 2007 and entered the product key. Word, Excel
and Power Point all operate normally. When I attempt to open and configure
Outlook, a window titled â€Configuring Outlook†comes up. The following
lines are in this window:

Migrating Account Settings
Migrating Preferences
Importing User Data

Before configuration is complete in the “Configuring Outlook†window, a
second window titled “Connecting to the Microsoft Exchange†opens.

Then another message in that window says, “Microsoft Exchange is
Unavailable†under this message there are three blocks:

Retry
Work Offline
Cancel

Selecting “Retry†repeats the above sequence over again.
Selecting “Work Offline†opens another window that says “Cannot open your
default e-mail folder. The information store could not be openedâ€. If I
select “OKâ€, the program terminates.
Selecting “Cancel†also terminates the program.

I’ve uninstall and reinstall Office Standard 2007. The same Outlook
configuration problem remains. I know the software is functional because, I
have used 2 of the 3 available installations on other computers.

Help!!! Appreciate your comments.

So, do you use an Exchange server to hold your mail?

Use the mail applet in the control panel to remove the exchange account and
correctly configure your type of account - I assume its not an exchange
account
