I've just installed Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7.1 and now
when I start Microsoft Outlook 2003 I can not get it
close exit when I click on the red X or File->Exit. The
program still checks my email and the only way to close
it is by doint a Alt-Ctrl-Del and closing the process.
Is there anyother way to hace to program exit like it
should. Note: I do not Sync my email with outlook but I
do sync everything else. Thanks.

uncradle the pda before closing outlook - as long as the pda is hooked up,
activesync will keep outlook running in the background.

Got it. Thanks for your help.

Jay,

Thank you for the info. I have the same problem with my update from Ms
Office XP (2002) to Office Professional 2003. Each time I exit Outlook the
tak bar Icon remains in place. WHen I reboot or end the process by
Ctrl-Alt-Del task manager results in Outlkook reloading with the message the
pst file did not close properly and there is a an error checking progress
bar displayed with a delayed load of Outlook. There is no effect on using
the various switches including "/noextensions". I have attempted to turn
off or uninstall various add-ons again with no correction of the problem.
It would appear that the icon remains awaiting the MS Exchange Server to
close connection. My only e-mail accounts include pop3 MSN account (version
5.6 initially) and hotmail. I even removed each account and rebooted; again
no avail on solving the problem. This did not exits in my version 2002 (XP).
I am running Windows 2000 sp3.

I will try Knockout. I am interested to see if the pst file rechecking
will occur after using this freeware.

Tony
