Hi,
My Office XP users are experiencing difficulty with a
custom written database application. The custom
application has integration links with Office, when a user
sends an email the custom app takes the email and stores
it behind a client record within a database. This all
works well until an Outlook XP user tries to do the same.
It comes up with a virus warning. See article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;290499
Reading through the article and supporting documentation
it describes a solution to the problem. You need to create
a special security folder within Exchange server, apply
some settings then configure the client machines. I have
followed it through to the letter and it doesn't seem to
work.
The only difference I have noticed is that it tells you to
modify the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Security
This key does not exist on my client machines, so I
created it manually myself and continued with the guide. I
am sure that this is the reason for it not working, but as
I have created it surely it would work unless there are
other things missing out of that folder?
This is becoming a big problem as we are about to migrate
more users on Office XP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Robert Hedley
