Mo J.

I have just reinstalled Office XP and Outlook could not
load the personal folders. I followed advice in this forum
and created a new profile. Outlook now opens but doesn't
display the inbox, calendar, contacts etc icons and I
can't add them. When I try, I get an error message "Unable
to display information from the file system or Outlook.
Could not open the item. Try again". Any help would be
appreciated.

Did you set-up Outlook with a valid mail account? If so; what type of
account? Exchange, POP3, IMAP, HTTP, other...?

.
Yes, I created a Pop3 mail account. The test email was
sent--I checked it on the ISP's web site.

Do you have a valid pst-file configured?
Start Outlook by Start-> Run; "path to outlook.exe" /resetfolders
This will recreate missing folders.
